What Dave Stands ForFiscal responsibility in washington
A Commitment to Fiscal ResponsibilityDave Beckwith believes Congress should live by the same rules that every family and small business in Virginia already follows: do not spend more than you take in.
Washington currently collects a record $5.2 trillion in federal revenue every year, and yet the national deficit still sits at roughly $1.8 trillion. That is not a revenue problem. That is a spending problem, and it has gone unaddressed for far too long. Dave will fight for disciplined spending caps that reflect the reality of what taxpayers can actually afford, and he will never support allowing pandemic-era emergency spending to become the permanent baseline for how Washington operates.
The consequences of inaction are no longer abstract. The national debt is approaching $40 trillion, and we now spend approximately $1 trillion every year just on interest payments. That is more than the entire national defense budget. Every dollar lost to interest is a dollar that cannot go toward innovation, infrastructure, or tax relief for working families. Dave will fight to root out the waste, fraud, and abuse that costs taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars every year, recover funds lost to improper payments, and implement the kind of rigorous oversight that restores public trust in how their money is spent. We have a moral obligation to the next generation to solve this now, while we still can.

For over a quarter-century, Washington has failed to balance its books. While the pandemic required immediate action, we cannot allow emergency-level outlays to become the permanent "baseline" for government spending. It is time to recognize that we do not have a revenue problem—we are currently collecting record-high federal revenues surpassing $5.2 trillion annually. Despite this, the national deficit remains roughly $1.8 trillion. We must grow our economy while simultaneously implementing disciplined spending caps that reflect the reality of our taxpayers’ budgets.
Tackling the Debt and Interest Crisis
With the national debt approaching $40 trillion, the cost of inaction has become staggering. We now pay approximately $1 trillion per year in interest alone—a sum that exceeds our entire national defense budget and Medicaid spending. This "interest tax" drains resources that could otherwise be used for innovation, infrastructure, or tax relief. While some suggest inflating our way out of this debt, we have seen that inflation only makes everyday Americans poorer. We must reform federal programs and cut wasteful spending to protect our financial sovereignty.
Rooting Out Waste, Fraud, and Abuse
A critical pillar of fiscal health is ensuring that taxpayer dollars actually reach their intended targets. Investigations into pandemic-era programs have uncovered staggering levels of improper payments. Conservative estimates suggest at least $200 billion to $500 billion may have been lost to fraud, with some third-party reports placing the figure even higher. I will fight to recover these stolen funds and implement rigorous oversight to ensure such a breach of public trust never happens again
Securing Our 250th Anniversary and Beyond
As we approach our nation's 250th anniversary, we have a moral obligation to the next generation. To ensure our grandchildren can celebrate the 300th birthday of a strong, prosperous America, we must solve this debt crisis now. By leveraging American innovation and talent to drive historic economic growth, while simply slowing the growth of government spending, we can return to a sustainable path and hand over a nation that is full of opportunity.
